CITY / URBAN

Safely through the city.
In city traffic, the main thing is to be seen early and at the same time to reliably illuminate the road, cycle path and surroundings. Compact, StVZO-compliant bicycle lighting with simple operation is therefore particularly suitable for short distances and daily use.
This is important for driving in the city:
- Good visibility in traffic
- Uncomplicated operation
- Compact design
- Reliable battery life
- Quick installation
- StVZO conformity
Our recommendation for City & Urban
For use in city traffic, on short distances or in everyday life, we recommend the set consisting of AURA 40 and HIRO 10. Both the front and rear lights are easy to use and comply with the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations. The long battery life makes both lights reliable companions. (Frequent charging is therefore not necessary.)

COMMUTERS

Bike light for daily commuting.
Anyone who rides their bike to work every day needs light that you can rely on. A long battery life, good road illumination and good visibility to the rear make all the difference – in the morning as well as on the way home in the dark.
This is important for commuters:
- Long battery life
- Clear battery indicator
- Uncomplicated charging
- Reliable illumination
- StVZO conformity
Our recommendation for commuters
The set of AURA 90 and HIRO 30 is particularly suitable for commuters because both lights have long battery life. The AURA 90 shines for up to 28 hours and convinces with uniform road illumination. The compact, StVZO-compliant HIRO 30 lasts up to 20 hours and can then be easily recharged via USB-C port.

ROAD

More overview on every ride.
On a road bike, speed, lighting conditions and traffic situation are constantly changing. Powerful front lighting, high rear visibility and intelligent networking in the form of a radar rear light help you to concentrate more on your ride.
This is important for ROAD/RACING CYCLISTS:
- Reliable illumination
- Good visibility in changing light conditions
- Information about the traffic situation behind you
- Mounting centrally under the bike computer for a clean cockpit
Our recommendation for ROAD/RACING BIKES
The AURA 120 LINK is made for road cyclists who want to be safe and concentrated even in changing light conditions. Its balanced light pattern ensures broad and homogeneous illumination in the short, medium and long range. This is ideal for fast rides on a wide variety of routes. The automatic light adjustment regulates the light output according to the environment. This means that the right amount of light is always available without having to take your hands off the handlebars. This creates additional comfort and keeps the focus on the road. Thanks to the central mounting under the handlebars, the cockpit remains tidy and the light is optimally centrally aligned.
What are the benefits of radar on bicycles?
A bicycle radar such as the RECO 80 LINK detects vehicles approaching from behind and can alert the rider to them at an early stage. In conjunction with compatible bike computers or smartphones, this creates an additional level of digital safety.

OFFROAD

When the road ends, every detail counts.
Away from illuminated roads, the focus is on range, light output and endurance. Trail, gravel, bikepacking and training in the dark require high-performance lighting that works reliably even on long rides.
This is what it comes down to:
- Wide illumination & visibility to the rear
- Reliable battery indicator
- Additional light in the line of sight through helmet light
- Stable, central mounting
Our recommendation for OFFROAD
When the trail or gravel path gets dark and confusing, light counts exactly where you need it. The AURA 170 HB LINK provides strong illumination on dark routes with switchable high beam – conveniently from the handlebars remotely without taking your hands off the handlebars. The BUSTER 900 HL on the helmet follows your line of sight and shines ahead of curves, junctions and obstacles. At the rear, the HIRO 50 LINK increases your visibility from behind with automatic brake and emergency brake lights. Three light sources that complement each other ideally and provide more overview, control and visibility away from illuminated roads.

Good to know: Choosing the right bike lights
How much lux should a bike light have?
How much lux your bike light should have depends on where you are traveling. For well-lit streets in the city, 40 to 60 lux is usually enough. If you regularly ride on dark cycle paths or country roads, 70 to 100 lux makes sense. However, it’s not just the lux number that is decisive: an even, wide light pattern and good illumination directly in front of the bike are at least as important. If you often ride in complete darkness, you should go for 100 lux or more.
Which bicycle lights are suitable for commuters?
If you cycle to work every day, you need light that works easily in everyday life. A front light with about 60 to 100 lux offers good illumination for the city, cycle path and darker sections. Several light levels, a long battery life, USB-C charging and a clearly visible battery indicator are also practical. When it comes to the rear light, high visibility and a large side beam angle are particularly important. Additional functions such as automatic mode or brake light can make the daily journey even more comfortable and safer. The SIGMA AURA 70 and AURA 90 are designed for this purpose and offer up to 28 hours of lighting time, among other things.
What is important for the city when it comes to bicycle lighting?
For bicycle lighting in the city, uniform road illumination and good visibility in road traffic are crucial. Since many streets are already illuminated, 40 to 70 lux is often sufficient. It is important that the front light does not dazzle other road users and makes intersections, curbs and obstacles easily visible. When it comes to rear lights, a large side viewing angle, high visibility and functions such as brake lights are also particularly practical. For everyday use, long battery life, USB-C charging, battery display and easy installation are also particularly practical. The AURA 40, 50 and 70 are in this lux range and the HIRO 30 offers up to 20 hours of lighting time.
What are the advantages of a bicycle radar?
A bicycle radar detects vehicles approaching from behind and warns the cyclist at an early stage. This is particularly helpful on country roads, at higher speeds or in strong winds, when approaching vehicles are hardly audibly noticed. Quiet electric cars can also be detected earlier. This means that there are fewer frightening moments in the event of sudden overtaking manoeuvres and the cyclist can better adapt to the traffic situation. Depending on the system, distance, approach and several vehicles are displayed simultaneously on a compatible bike computer or smartphone.
Which bicycle lights are approved according to StVZO?
For public road traffic, a bicycle must be equipped with a white dipped beam at the front and a red rear light at the rear. The lighting must be type-approved, securely fastened and adjusted in such a way that other road users are not dazzled. Flashing front and rear lights are not permitted according to the StVZO. Modern approved systems may have additional functions such as high beam such as the AURA 170 HB or brake light e.g. the HIRO 50, provided that these also meet the legal requirements.
What is the difference between lux and lumens?
Lumen stands for the total amount of light emitted by a bicycle lamp. Lux, on the other hand, measures the brightness on the road at a certain distance from the lamp. Therefore, a luminaire with many lumens can still illuminate worse if the light is distributed unfavorably.
Example: Two bicycle lamps can both have 200 lumens. If one focuses the light specifically on the road, it achieves more lux there and provides better visibility than a lamp that distributes its light widely in all directions.
