Hello evolution! Hello ROX 11.1 EVO!

Hello evolution! Hello ROX 11.1 EVO!

There must be a foundation before evolution can even be considered. Evolution involves improvement, refinement, progress, and history. This article will trace the EVOlution of the ROX 11.0 to the new ROX 11.1 EVO bike computer.

The refinement of the ROX 11.0 starts with its size. The new ROX 11.1 EVO bike computer is much smaller and slimmer than its predecessor. The transmissive display’s 1.77 inches still ensures that it remains easy to comprehend. The 11.0 design language is maintained in the evolved variant, but is, of course, much more modern.

The ROX 11.1 EVO has another equipment feature that immediately catches the eye. While the ROX 11.0 has just four buttons, its successor has five. The new fifth button is a clear advantage during use, since the separate menu button allows quick access to settings and functions such as workout and track navigation.

Colourful and usable anywhere

The ROX 11.1 EVO’s outer attractiveness is matched by its inner qualities. One clear, very obvious improvement over the black-and-white ROX 11.0 is the colour display. Another is that the ROX 11.1 EVO is immediately ready for use. Its predecessor sent the user to the main menu, where he had to select the action that he wanted to perform. Making adjustments during training required a button combination. The ROX 11.1 EVO is faster and more reactive, and adjustment can be made extremely easily during a ride.

The ROX 11.1 EVO has two more hours of battery life for a total of 15, so it can be used even more reliably on long tours. Still not enough? The ROX 11.1 EVO is a great partner during indoor training, too. Just link it to the smart trainer and use the numerous training computer features at home.

Perfect mount with the new SHORT BUTLER

There are innovations to the BUTLER, too. The ROX 11.0 was mounted on the GPS Butler III. Now we have the SHORT BUTLER. It was developed specifically for the ROX 11.1 EVO. The SHORT BUTLER positions the ROX 11.1 EVO closer to your handlebars and in a more streamlined position than does a standard GPS handlebar holder. The SHORT BUTLER can be mounted on handlebars with diameters of 25.4 and 31.8 mm in a few easy steps. Even curved handlebars benefit from the new BUTLER. 3D rubber pads allow the ROX 11.1 EVO to be oriented straight in front of the handlebars.

Always on the right path

While the ROX 11.0 is used with the familiar SIGMA LINK app, the ROX 11.1 EVO communicates with a new app. The SIGMA RIDE app can be used to record data on the bike computer for later analysis. The ROX 11.1 EVO can be set up conveniently with the RIDE app and easily personalized.

The ROX 11.1 EVO connection to the komoot app means that the smart phone need not be manipulated during the ride. komoot navigation instructions are displayed on the ROX 11.1 EVO. This is an advantage that SIGMA brand ambassador Marcel Kittel appreciates:

Since the end of my professional career, I have enjoyed the freedom biking provides, and I like to explore new areas. When I do that, I prefer to navigate on the ROX 11.1 EVO with Track or the komoot app and leave my smart phone in my pocket.

The transmissive display adjusts automatically to lighting conditions so that the ROX 11.1 EVO really can shine on any track, in any weather. If you leave the path, the track zoom level adjusts so that the track is always visible. This makes it easy to find your way back. Improvements were also made to the track navigation direction indicator so that the proper direction of travel on the track is always clear. This is an option that the ROX 11.0 did not have.

New variety: more sport profiles

An especially fascinating feature is the sport profile upgrade. While the ROX 11.0 allowed the user to create three sport profiles, the ROX 11.1 EVO has room for 20. This is a feature that Karl Platt, a SIGMA brand ambassador and five-time Cape Epic winner, finds useful: “During training, I like to use different bikes, so it’s practical that the ROX 11.1 EVO supports multiple sport profiles. This makes it extremely easy for me to switch from my mountain bike to my gravel bike – with a single device.”

The personal cockpit can also be customised. The user can choose for himself how many values are to be shown on his display and which ones they will be. The individual data fields can be highlighted in up to eight different colours, allowing a better overview and quicker readability.

Fulfil your ambitions with the ROX 11.1 EVO

One feature that the ROX 11.0 did not have, but its successor does, is the zoom function after a long button press. The plus or minus button zooms in on the altitude profile after a long press, so that its details are easier to see; zooming out makes it easier to look back.

If a track is loaded, the ROX 11.1 EVO offers an altitude profile preview, just as the ROX 11.0 did. The ROX 11.1 EVO does not need to have a reference height entered for barometric altitude measurement, since it uses GPS coordinates to determine the correct altitude automatically.

E-bike fans benefit from the ROX 11.1 EVO, too

The newcomer to the ROX family is useful to e-bike riders as well. Unlike the ROX 11.0, the ROX 11.1 EVO is e-bike-ready and can be easily paired with many e-bikes. This means that the GPS bike computer establishes a connection to the compatible e-bike system and shows you specific values such as the remaining ride range, battery charge, and support level. You can find more information about e-bike connectivity at our website:  https://rox.sigmasport.com/de/e-bike-compatibility/.

Our ROX 11.1 EVO summary: The new GPS bike computer features a great colour display and offers support for more sport profiles, buttons, and GPS satellites. It has a longer battery life and more sensors and is e-bike-compatible. The ROX 11.1 EVO also features fall protection and improved Track and komoot navigation. The SIGMA RIDE app is harmonised to the small device, which features less weight and a lower price – and if that’s not an EVOlution, we don’t know what is.´´´´´´
